Derek Redmond was favoured to medal in the olympic 400 m sprint, 150m into the race, he felt a searing pain. In agony, he fell to the ground with a torn hamstring.
Not willing to give up.
Determined to finish the race..he continued
Breaking to security, a man came to Derek's side.
It was his father.
"you don't have to do this," told his father
"yes, I do," he replied.
"Well then, we are going to finish this together!"
Together father and son continued.
Shortly before the finish line, Derek's father let him to go to complete his race.
Receiving a standing ovation from a crowd of over 65,000.

You need a lot of passion for what you're doing because its so hard. Without passion, any rational person would give up. So if you're not having fun doing it, if you dont absolutely love it, youre going to give up. And that's what happens to most people, actually.

If you look at the ones that ended up being successful in the eyes of society, often times its the ones who love what they do, so they could persevere when it got really tough. And the ones that didn't love it, quit. Because they're sane, right?

Who would put up with this stuff if you don't love it? So its a lot of hard work and its a lot of worrying constantly.

If you don't love it, youre going to fail.
